The beginnings of a new kitchen knife. The material is the old bandsaw blade seen in the background. The general form is cut out with an acetylene torch then ground down to the desired shape with an angle grinder.
I next worked on the bevel. I am trying to get the bevel to a point where I can almost immediately jump into sharpening after heat-treatment with no grinding.
My most recent job is converting a section of metal fence into a gate. The process has so far involved cutting out one of the end uprights and adding on length to the entire pieces, then adding more uprights to center the heart. The next step will be to finish adding the uprights and eventually hinges to fit on the pintle.
Here are some images of the progress.
